Observation Cone Enhancements for Low-earth Orbit Satellites

In Phase II we will develop, test, and deliver a software prototype that enhances commercial LEO satellite EO/IR images collected at large off-nadir angles, enabling Navy users to create image tasking requests and monitor activity with better revisit rates. The image enhancement processing will address challenges with geo-registration, ortho-rectification, and image resolution and contrast in extreme viewing geometries. This will support Navy automatic target recognition (ATR) and targeting applications. We will develop and test the software prototype in a spiral process, incorporating feedback from testing and comments from Navy end user representatives. The capabilities and supported interfaces for the software will increase throughout the program. We will test and characterize the performance of the software in a variety of conditions that are interest for Navy applications and inform decision makers of the developed capabilities. We will also support Navy end user representatives and their contractors in integrating and testing the software prototype.
