Research abstract

To enable the Navy transition of AN/SQQ-89 physical infrastructure to software-defined components in an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) architecture, ARiA will develop the Software-Defined Naval Tactical Data System (sNTDS), a capability for Ethernet-based NTDS interfaces that will support multiple versions of the Linux kernel in either physical or virtual compute environments. Phase I will (1) develop the Software-Defined NTDS concept and a completely virtual prototype implementation, (2) demonstrate that the concept meets the required parameters, (3) establish feasibility through modeling and analysis on an unclassified system, and (4) develop a Phase II plan for sNTDS including an initial design specification and capabilities description to guide development of a full prototype solution in Phase II.
