Research abstract

Bryka Inc. proposes the development of an advanced Kilowatt Class SBS-Reduced Hollow-Core Fiber (HCF) Dip Loop Cable Assembly designed for seamless integration into naval platforms and submerged operations. This initiative addresses a critical limitation in current Directed Energy (DE) systems – the weakening effects of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) on power transmission through fiber optic components. Our solution capitalizes on innovative advances in anti-resonant hollow-core fiber (AR-HCF) technology, with exceptionally low nonlinearity and high damage thresholds suitable for kilowatt-class power levels. We will use sophisticated computational modeling to refine the HCF design, focusing on material selection and structural optimization to mitigate SBS effects. Furthermore, we involve rigorous simulation analyses to ensure high signal integrity and operational resilience under marine conditions. Finally, we will construct and integrate a 7 Quad channel assembly for 28 HCF cables, emphasizing weight optimization and compatibility with the Universal Modular Mast (UMM) Fairing Cable Handling Assembly (FCHA). The proposed technology addresses the urgent need for reliable, high-performance communication systems capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of underwater operations. With a solid foundation in AR-HCF development and a clear vision for commercialization, Bryka Inc. is poised to deliver a transformative solution to enhance the Navy's operational capabilities and drive forward the broader field of fiber optics.
