Research abstract

???????EpiBone is the first and only biotechnology company to gain FDA approval for human trials of a stem cell-based tissue product. EpiBone is developing a platform that emulates natural conditions for tissue development to assist in bone reconstruction¢ stems cells are ōmaturedö on a bovine scaffold within EpiBoneÆs proprietary bioreactor and learn how to become bone cells over the course of 3 weeks. EpiBone provides a perfect fit to the shape and size needed using a cellular approach to growing oneÆs own stem cells. The resulting implanted bone graft is alive so it can continue growing and remodeling like native tissue. A significant number of reconstructive surgeries are occurring across the military due to increased quality of battle armor resulting in more survivors with more debilitating injuries. In 2020 alone, 579 craniofacial and soft tissue trauma surgeries were performed to correct conflict-acquired injuries costing the DAF $18.8 million. Newly developed 3D cell structures are significant tools which have started to revolutionize the field of regenerative medicine to enhance extremity injury and reconstructive surgeries. Form, Function and Bioactivity from a 3D technology is rare, but providing each¢ as EpiBone accomplishes¢ allows for personalized medicine enhancing the results of a procedure.
