Research abstract

Current very high definition EOIR imagers can be limited in their spectral selectivity/agility, dynamic range, and frame rate. Cyans proposed HD Broadband Adaptive Sensor System (HBASS) represents a revolutionary capability for the detection and characterization of Hypersonic Vehicles (HSVs) because of the extreme resolution, sensitivity, and short integration times, > 500 FPS frame rates which enables superior long range detection and improved accurate aimpoint for the Sensor System. Cyan has demonstratedĀsmall pixel IR Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) sensors that create unprecedented long range imagery.ĀOur proposed HBASS will have broadband response for signature exploitation, have short integration times needed to mitigate jitter,Āsmear, Āand Ālessen sampled turbulence, enable fast frame rates in excess of 500 FPS and yet maintain excellent NEDT and NEI which is required for long range objects.
