Research abstract

Broadband High Dynamic Range infrared imagers are required to characterize signatures of military targets, both cooperative and hostile. The specific need is the characterization of missile plume and hardbody signatures in static and free flight tests. This threat characterization supports the design and testing of missile warning and countermeasure systems.  Cyan has developed a novel Small Pixel HDR Infrared Sensor Technology that can detect and measure the various signature from a Hypersonic Vehicle, the tip, the side, laminar and turbulent flow and Plasma effects, plume and related thermal soak-back versus time of realistic HSV coming through the Atmosphere. Not only does our Small Pixel enable imaging of hot objects like the Sun and Hypersonic objects but it allows extremely fast frame rates up to 500 frames per second.
