Research abstract
Valgotech LLC is an energy storage company with a portfolio of proprietary technologies that enable us to develop and introduce innovative battery systems into different markets. Many DAF applications like munitions, directed energy systems, and autonomous vehicles require high power density battery systems. Current solutions are based on lithium-ion batteries that use expensive and foreign-sourced battery materials. The key objective of this Phase II project is to develop a made-in-USA lithium sulfur (Li-S) battery that has high power discharge capacity and high energy density to power UAS and EVTOL. The tasks will include battery cell materials engineering, design, testing and optimization in coin and pouch cells. It will also involve battery pack design and optimization. Finally, Li-S battery packs will be integrated into drones and flight tests conducted.
