Research abstract

Both the AFGSC and PEO MATAC have identified DMM capability needs to reclaim knowledge more quickly and efficiently fromlegacy acquisition/engineering document archives, then manage and use such authoritative resources to support designdecisions related to weapon system modernization/sustainment. Authoritative data/knowledge mining continues to beelusive despite significant advances in Digital-Engineering-(DE) and Artificial-Intelligence-(AI) technologies.  DE with AI systematic decisioning empowerment is a key enabling technology that offers speed/agility driven authoritative decisioning tosignificantly reduce both the risks and time associated with weapon systems modernization acquisition. RJLG will innovatively adapt, expand, customize and deploy a Chart-Mining Empowered Augmented Knowledge Management(CH/AKM) platform to enhance knowledge production/capture to support more authoritative decisioning over the entireweapon system lifecycle. This advances digital transformation efforts by improving data mining, providing systematic complexdata transformation and chart-knowledge extraction capabilities to give engineers the tools required to drive moreauthoritative decisioning providing speed/agility in the acquisition process and potentially accelerating modernization efforts. RJLG will use its data ingestion/indexing/metadata-extraction/semantic-linking/data-curation capability, as the basis toprovide the CH/AKM by implementing more complex AI-decisioning algorithms. The technology can be applied cross-industry in organizations where timely/data-driven decision making is critical.
