Research abstract

GURU is an autonomous system that drives expert workflows in software – a cognitive assistant built to be the AI layer between humans and computers for rapid modeling, simulation, analysis, visualization, and virtual world-building. The setup of simulations remains a laborious process, demanding months or even years for users to fully master. We developed GURU to remove the barriers that prohibit engineers, designers, and trainers from achieving the promise of simulation and high performance computing. We have demonstrated GURU reducing modeling and simulation setup time from hours to minutes for a range of engineering applications.   Technology we built to learn from heterogeneous data of varying quality (text, images, PDFs, video, and other data types) for the purpose of training our skills agents gives us an advantage as we repurpose and adapt GURU to produce training material for humans. We are able to autogenerate English language, and other procedural languages, including SysML. Furthermore, our demonstrated ability to drive virtual world building in software like Unreal Engine enables us to produce immersive training from the original data sources, which we think will be highly responsive to the requirements of DET 23, who's strong interest we achieved during customer discovery efforts for this opportunity: “to ensure that the next generation of cadets are learning quicker, better, and faster.”
