Research abstract
Actus proposes the Transformational Autonomous Aerial Logistics Operation Vehicle (TALOn) Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) rotorcraft capable of autonomous, super heavy lift cargo operations. TALOn will integrate high maturity COTS technologies into a unified platform to support urgent DoD mission areas surrounding contested logistics. TALOn supports heavy lift operations (20x more capacity than other UAS vehicles) for standardized cargo. TALOn uses its Container Lifting Autonomous-docking Winch (CLAW) to secure dock with standardized payloads, such as shipping containers, which enable logistical operations independent of fixed infrastructure. Actus will advance the technical feasibility of TALOn by completing further performance and subsystem design trade studies. Actus will refine the design of key TALOn subsystems to demonstrate compliance with diverse DoD contested logistics mission areas.
