Research abstract

The U.S. Space Force has an urgent need for tactically responsive space capabilities in orbital regimes including LEO, MEO, GEO, and cislunar orbits, with significant progress in LEO but a critical need for responsive GEO solutions. Impulse Space, Inc. proposes a rapid enhancement of on-orbit responsive space capabilities by adapting its multi-orbit Mira Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle (OMV), with capability to operate in LEO and GEO, to TacRS requirements. The Mira OMV uses a storable green bipropellant propulsion system which provides high thrust for responsive missions. Impulse will demonstrate an accelerated propellant loading operation and assess the long term storability of an ethane-nitrous fueled space vehicle. A commercial OMV serves as a cost-effective and flexible space vehicle for responsive space missions.
