Research abstract

The U.S. Space Force has an urgent need for sustained maneuverability on-orbit to conduct effective dynamic space operations. Impulse Space, Inc. proposes to design a commercial repositioning capability using Orbital Maneuvering Vehicles with Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) capability and high-thrust chemical propulsion to responsively reposition DoD assets as a service. The repositioning capability will be informed by DoD stakeholder requirements to drive the design for docking interfaces, delta-V capability, and relevant orbits. The Phase I study will conclude with an adapted commercial repositioning solution that could be proved out in a follow-on on-orbit demonstration.
