Research abstract

Under this direct to Phase II (D2P2) proposal, SRICO shall develop an integrated optic 780 nm wavelength photonic isolator for quantum photonic applications. The isolator shall feature insertion loss < 3 dB, and isolation > 20 dB at 780 nm wavelength. An important aspect under this proposal shall be improving propagation and waveguide coupling loss for the 780 nm integrated optic device, using optimized waveguide design and mode conversion sections. Additional effort shall be focused on integration of optical polarization control elements, either on-chip, or via elements available through the AIM photonics platform. Successful completion of the effort shall pave the way for inclusion of the isolator device within the AIM Photonics process design kit (PDK) under Phase III transition efforts.
