Research abstract

Transcend Robotics aims to develop top-of-the-line robotic systems that are easy to use and convenient to operate. Through relentless innovation fueled by operator feedback, we design, develop, and deliver best-in-class robotic systems to improve and save lives.  Small robotics systems play an essential role in enhancing search, recovery, and discovery operations while protecting human life.  The ability to operate in diverse conditions and locations will enable access to areas that are otherwise restricted due to size, safety, or security concerns.   However, the current robotics solutions on the market lack portability, versatility, accuracy, and efficiency particularly when used in confined spaces and rugged environments. The size of a robot is closely related to its battery life which means existing smaller robot systems often cannot sustain the battery power required to meet mission requirements.  Smaller robots are often poorly designed for, or cannot carry any, significant payloads.   Additionally, small robotic systems currently do not integrate advanced camera technology, which leaves operators without a clear view of the area in question. When used in certain military environments this can have life-threatening consequences.  A small robotic system that can operate on an extended battery life, access varied terrains, carry substantial payloads, and capture advanced, high-quality images will be a game changer for countless intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions helping to protect human lives.  Transcend Robotics understands the limitations of current robotic systems based on their size and unwieldiness in diverse and constrained environments, and plans to address this problem by developing a small unmanned, cyber-hardened robotic system.  Through research, testing, and feasibility studies, Transcend Robotics will assess viable system designs that will allow us to ultimately develop a lightweight, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), multi-mission capable robotic system. This innovative small robotic system will fill a crucial gap in the robotics and defense markets, ultimately contributing to the protection of human life during critical missions.
