Research abstract

Stratom proposes to support SOCOM through the development of Small, NOvel, mOdular Platforms for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) (SNOOPI). The overall goal of the SNOOPI program is to develop small unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) that are capable of supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) operators on the modern battlefield by extending their area of influence without increasing their risk. In Phase I of the SNOOPI program, Stratom will: research and evaluate existing and next-generation robotic and autonomous system (RAS) technologies for small ISR UGVs; create a range of SNOOPI concepts that explore the trade space at two weight ranges; and determine the feasibility of the SNOOPI concepts through a robust trade study process. The SNOOPI systems will be modular, cyber-hardened RASs with advanced mobility, sensing, payload, and MUM-T capabilities. The combination of these capabilities will allow SOF operators to see and do more while reducing their own risk.
