Research abstract

Our proposal centers on enhancing UAV operations in RF and GPS-denied environments, utilizing the capabilities of the Sentaero 5 UAV platform. The primary objectives of the Phase I research involve the development of a modular interface for swift C2 link interchangeability, with a focus on integrating three distinct resilient C2 links. Additionally, we aim to harness optical flow technology, complemented by onboard IMUs, to devise a reliable positioning system operational without GPS. Furthermore, the research sets the stage for the conceptualization of the Viridian platform, a next-generation dual-use UAV that embodies the advancements of Phase I, offering superior flexibility in C2 link, payload, and navigation sensor integrations. The modular interface for C2, payload, and navigation systems in Phase I will establish a scalable platform for Phase II. This initiative represents a holistic approach to elevate UAV technology, catering to both military and commercial sectors, and seeks to establish new performance standards in diverse operational settings.
