Research abstract

Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems including radios, amplifiers, power support, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), antennae, audio devices, ancillaries and interconnecting cabling are highly complex and currently require detailed design and intricate, often time consuming, integration across all vehicle variants, particularly in the Non-Standard Commercial Vehicle (NSCV) Program. The prevailing designs impede on ergonomics of the vehicle, considerably drive per-vehicle costs, and do not provide homogenous capabilities across vehicle variants. The problem is further exacerbated when consideration is given to additional vehicles within the Family of Special Operations Vehicles (FOSOV) portfolio. The result is inconsistent C5ISR equipment, a lack of standardization, and disparate capabilities. Tricom’s Advanced Carry-On/Carry-Off C5ISR will offer a modernized communications suite that is modular, scalable, and rapidly deployable. Modularity enables standardization while adapting to multiple vehicle platforms. Scalability provides a means to scale from minimum capability to full lead communication vehicle capability while maintaining the standardization. And finally, the rapidly deployable aspect reduces the total burden of C5ISR through a novel concept of permanent or temporary infrastructure (dependent on vehicle type) that puts standardized and modernized C5ISR at the ready for any fight.
