Research abstract

Radian Aerospace is developing the Radian One platform, a single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO), fourth-generation spaceplane that provides tactically responsive (TacRS) launch on demand capabilities for a variety of missions including Assured Access to Space, space superiority, and space domain awareness, among other mission capabilities. With its horizontal take-off and horizontal landing capability, the Radian One platform can essentially operate as a multi-use platform for space operations in low Earth orbit (LEO). Each vehicle will have a targeted 48-hour turnaround from landing to next launch thanks to modular, standardized payload interfaces and advanced sensors, diagnostics, and system inspection techniques. The Radian One Spaceplane can serve all inclinations in LEO ¢ from one orbit to 5-day missions, and can deliver up to 5-people (as required for commercial access to the ISS)or 5,000 pounds of cargo.
