Research abstract

TeraDAR is developing the first ever terahertz high-resolution imaging radar on a chip, enabling low-cost advanced perception for autonomous operation, regardless of hostile environment conditions (rain, snow, sleet, fog, dust, wind, hail, lighting or light objects). TeraDAR’s novel sensor is powered by unprecedented heterogeneous chip integration and will have a far-reaching impact on sensing capabilities. TeraDAR is a flexible, high frequency phased array sensor system, utilizing both optical and RF properties.  TeraDAR’s innovation will enable autonomy in real-world and austere environments by achieving higher resolution than currently available technology. Our sensors operate at high frequency, across a variety of applications, and can allow AF end-users to customize the technology according to their immediate, on-demand needs. Through this Phase II effort, TeraDAR will prototype and test a sensor package to meet Air Force requirements and provide imaging information that was previously impossible to generate.
