Research abstract

River Otter Renewables (ROR) technology transforms per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contaminated waste into renewableáfuels, such as diesel or sustainable aviation fuel. Our base technology is hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) with patented proprietary process changes increasing the technology energy efficiency and fuel outputáquality. ROR systems use wet waste, such as sewage, without the need for extreme heat (900F or more) or dehydration required with incineration, gasification, or pyrolysis. The Phase I research will validate Air Force need for waste treatment PFAS destruction technology by performing detailed customer and expert interviews specifically focused on environmental remediation and restoration locally in Massachusetts and nationally, as well as fuel logistical management concerns.
