Research abstract

The effects of concussion on a military service member can decrease individual effectiveness and negatively impact unit readiness. This emphasizes the importance of proper concussion assessment and management,áespecially for return-to-duty decisions. HHITT, Inc. is building a hardware/software system to monitor brain health through gait analysis of Airmen who have had a suspected head injury. The patented system consists of: (a)áwearable sensors with wireless capabilities combined with (b) proprietary software using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to discern gait characteristics and compare test results to a patientĺs previous gait or that of a comparative cohort/normative data set. This system addresses DAF Strategic Capability area of ôResponsibilities to organize, train, and equip Airmenö and Operational Imperative #7, Readiness to Deploy and Fight.
