Research abstract

High assurance embedded systems must undergo rigorous evaluation and verification process. Based on the Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP), the seL4 microkernel has been formally verified with mathematical proof of its functional correctness including the entirety of the kernel's implementation. As current seL4 formal verification does not have time protection mechanism, certain attacks can significantly weaken the seL4 formal verification for high assurance systems. The proposed Timeguard is to design and develop a holistic timing channel protection framework through hardware software co-design.
