Research abstract

You Tune Hearing Protection (HP) will develop Passive and Electronic canine In-Ear hearing protection devices (HPD). The canine HPDs will optimize acoustic performance for the Department of Defense's (DOD) Military Working Dog Program. The primary focus is a secure fit with an airtight seal for retention during training and combat missions. You Tune HP will also propose an early adaption of In-Ear earplugs during obedience training to allow handlers to begin marking the canines' required behavior before transitioning to amplified hearing protection during combat missions. In-Ear canine earplugs will not interfere with natural ear movement and eliminate the need for unnatural-fitting earmuff-style headsets. The In-Ear devices will attenuate sounds below 1000 Hz by at least 23 dB while retaining environmental acoustic alertness in the 2000 to 4000 Hz range. The electronic In-Ear devices will provide automatic noise cancellation and automatic gain control. You Tune HP's unrivaled understanding of acoustics engineering, noise reduction rating certifications, complex sound reduction manipulation, material science, and commercializing experience is unequivocal evidence You Tune HP will deliver canine In-Ear hearing protection devices after this proposed contract timeline. You Tune HP recently designed and fabricated eight new commercially certified (NRR, SNR, IPIL) hearing protection devices and electronic accessories for the Department of Defense and delivered product lines to domestic and international customers.
