Research abstract

The highly contested environment of the Pacific Theater requires immediate solutions to urgent fleet concerns.ĀUnmitigated corrosion of aging fleets and other preventative maintenance problems are plaguing the Air Force, despite spending BILLIONS annually in sustainment. Ā Gecko Robotics developed the worldÆs most advanced ultrasonic inspection robots for advancing the collective knowledge of how the DoD's infrastructure is aging to inform next steps and extend life cycles. Traditional manual inspection methods leave major gaps in safety, efficiency, and accuracyŚultimately compromising the integrity of critical assets and the lives of warfighters. Ā Our robots collect data at an unprecedented scale, increase efficiencies, and promote safety to ensure the availability, reliability, and sustainability of critical infrastructure. Reducing the need for manual inspections by 50%. We will execute a 3-month systematic and intensiveĀfeasibility study of Gecko Robotics Toka Robotic Platform and Cantilever Asset Management Platform with the 535th Airlift Squadron to establish the scope of modifications needed for the Phase II to adapt the coreĀtechnology to fit the PACAF mission need for faster, more accurate preventative maintenance on aluminum frame cargo aircraft including the C-5, C-17 and C-130
