Research abstract

Traditional IT services for group and user account onboarding and provisioning is a time consuming and laborious process, typically managed through service desk tickets. The problem of timely onboarding and access to IT infrastructure is not limited to DAF or even DoD. Large private sector companies have the same pain point. No fully integrated, automated solution exists to improve this process despite the availability of the requisite enabling technological pieces.áExisting Commercial off the shelf (COTS) products lack the DoD security requirements. Rework of these products is cost-prohibitive. We hypothesize a flexible, secure, and automated solution will address the needs of the Air Force. This Phase I activity will build upon a prototype microservice architecture with intuitive UI/UX that ingests user data and attributes from identity provider protocols and automates account authorization, access, and provisioning for IT services. We will deliver architecture diagrams, the backend framework, and a feasibility report/white paper.
