Research abstract

Eduras Autonomy in collaboration with Penn State Applied Research Laboratory, and DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (providing technical guidance during tech transfer),Āis developing and conducting a final demonstration for a next generation imaging lidar system providing 3-D situational awareness and autonomous navigation of an unmanned ground/aerial vehicle within a GPS-denied environment.ĀAddressing needs outlined under the U.S. Air Force Environmental Geographic Information System program for real-time geospatial collection and display, and the U.S. Army One World Terrain initiative for generating geospatially precise synthetic training environments. The first-generation geospatial solution, developed in collaboration withĀthe DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory has been developed and tested in a relevant environment, and will be utilized to develop a 2nd generation system that will provide Air Force Intelligence operators and aircraft pilots with real time situational awareness of the battlefield allowing them to increase manned-unmanned teaming.ĀThe overall technology objective is to develop a next generation photogrammetric & LIDAR-based geospatial processing solution capable of dividing the overall FOV into smaller pieces, with each smaller piece covered by a separate receiver element that can have a larger effective aperture due to its smaller FOV. Resulting in real-time geospatially precise navigation for an aerial vehicle within a gps-denied environment.
