Research abstract

Through the proposed Phase I SBIR program, MacroVation« will create novel, breathable open cell biopolymer foams that will be molecularly engineered for rapidly, safely incapacitating targets without problematic suffocation and skin irritation. MacroVationÆs seaweed derived biofoams will be uniquely designed for facile removal after deposition and crosslinking using nontoxic aqueous solutions with concentrations of sodium ions comparable to oceanic salt water. Working with its Phase III transition partners throughout the base and option periods of the SBIR program, MacroVation will continuously engineer its high strength biofoams to non-lethally entangle, restrain, and temporary disable targets. In support of sustainable economic development of next-generation, environmentally friendly bioplastics, MacroVationÆs plant derived biofoams will be readily recyclable and help transition our society toward a circular, green bioeconomy. While many non-lethal deterrents often come under public criticism, we propose what can be essentially communicated as ōsticky seaweed.ö
