The Air Force is undergoing a digital transformation and  adopting commercial best practices in software processes, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity as it leverages commercial cloud technology. However, commercial software does not perform as designed when run in a restricted classified cloud region (such as AWS C2S/C2E, Azure Government Secret, etc.). The Air Force struggles to keep software in these secure and mission critical environments modernized. The Air Force cannot simply rely on older versions of software in the classified environment because with each passing day they become more vulnerable, more stagnant, and less functional impeding the Air Force’s mission.
