Research abstract

The problem OXbyEL Technologies is addressing is that there is no commercial water treatment solution that destroys the health hazards per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water. PFAS originates from various products including fire-fighting foam and migrates into groundwater. PFAS are connected to many health risks. OXbyEL Technologies has the support of the Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC) to develop a prototype and test OXbyEL Technologies’ PFAS electrolyzer platform for groundwater treatment at USAF installations. The PFAS Working Group in AFCEC is responsible for oversight of PFAS monitoring and treatment across the USAF. This work will provide the technical feasibility, as well as the foundation for scalability across the USAF and dual-use commercialization addressing groundwater and drinking water for industry followed by municipalities.
