Research abstract

Photonic Systems, Inc. and Harvard University propose to develop Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulators that have lower V-pi at 10 GHz than ever previously demonstrated and that can withstand the large input voltage spikes produced by electrostatic discharge, lightning, or a large nearby signal transmitter. Additionally, we propose to demonstrate a modulator bias control circuit that can maintain near-ideal quadrature operation even when the modulator is subjected to rapid changes in temperature.
