Research abstract

Numerous Government Agencies and Commercial Organizations are dependent on federated systems of systems. These federated systems use complex technologies that are difficult to integrate and monitor. It is challenging to collect and aggregate the system logs, application logs, events, and alerts generated from these systems into a central data repository. Naval Control Systems (NCS) fall into this category. NCSs need to collect log data for performance and cybersecurity monitoring. A number of inefficient solutions for log data collection involves integrating best-of-breed Open Source Software (OSS) and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products; however a holistic solution that eliminates the complexity of integrating the products and synthesizing the data centrally does not exist. The opportunity in the Phase II effort is to build on theĀextremely successful Phase I UnifyRTTMĀprototype to readyĀthe product for AN/SQQ-89 transition and commercialization.ĀThe Phase I effort explored integration of open sourceĀlogging components as a viable logging architecture forĀNCS to achieve centralized logging for performance andĀcybersecurity monitoring. OurĀPhase I prototype demonstrated an advanced capability that can easily be commercialized toĀsystems that require centralized visibility of system of systems performance and cybersecurityĀstatus in complex, critical environments used within the IWS5 and NAVSEA programs. We will expand on our UnifyRTTMĀarchitecture, artificial intelligence concepts, and implementation aspects with respect to supporting database and data structure, cybersecurity, and predictive analytics as they relate to future machine learning applications within UnifyRTTM.Ā By providing additional theoretical analysis of the consequences on performance and requirements, Altron will further expandĀon ourĀprototype's extensibility, usability, data services, and networking performance to reach a commercialized product.commercialized product.
