Research abstract

Under the subject SBIR topic, the DoD calls for the development of an application that integrates existing physics-based analysis tools into mission planning methods, to enable the rapid prediction of weapon effects on user-defined targets and hazards to non-targets. The application is envisioned to benefit the SOCOM Operators and mission commands. K&C answers to the solicitation proposing to develop a novel application, Munitions Endgame Effects Tool (MEET). The application will enable the user to run simulations in real time with limited effort and no requirement of previous training on weapons effects. The application will provide an intuitive and accessible GUI, with features that allow the user to easily setup a scene, run the scene, and make critical decisions based on the simulation outcome. The application may be used for vulnerability and lethality assessment, as well as to train mission commands to the warfare scenario. Virtual reality features will be included to enhance the end-user experience. The application will be based on Endgame Framework, and it will leverage a numerous number of physics-based modules for the accurate prediction of weapon effects. Among the relevant methodologies, weapon fragmentation, airblast effects, lethality analyses, and structural response mechanism will be included.
