TIMPS: Total Infrastructure and Mission Planning Suite - Phase II

In this program, Scientific Systems Co., Inc. (SSCI) is building TIMPS (Total Infrastructure and Mission Planning Suite), a software suite for automated theater-level ASW (anti-submarine warfare) mission planning that incorporates AUSs (autonomous unmanned systems) into theater-scale plans that are mission-aware, infrastructure-aware, adversary-aware, and integrated with manned assets. TIMPS’ auto-generated plans optimize route schedules across all assets in a theater, as opposed to existing tools that optimize only in a localized area. An additional benefit of the TIMPS approach is that the algorithmic components of TIMPS are also designed for decentralized use in comms-denied environments. This makes it possible for TIMPS’ pre-mission plans to be embedded on AUSs and manned units for in-field replanning between locally communicating teammates during intermittently disconnected mission execution. Phase II work will focus on maturation of the planning toolkit, as well as addition of adversary-aware game-theoretic planning algorithms to enable explicit modeling of adversary reactions and optimal ASW asset responses.
