Research abstract

The Air Force relies on Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) to determine location and orientation, plan a route to a desired location, and fuse intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data. Recognizing U.S. reliance on GPS, adversaries are developing and using increasingly capable jammers and spoofers to deny the use of GPS by U.S. military forces. GPS satellites’ low-power signals are vulnerable to jamming on the ground by adversaries using radio frequency jamming systems that are widely available. To meet this defense need, Alluvionic proposes ArcSat as a reliable, resilient PNT solution to traditional GPS. ArcSat is a patented solution for enabling a reliable PNT solution at the tactical edge. In this D2P2 effort, Alluvionic’s R/R&D adaptations are aimed at developing a prototype for demonstration and bolstering the system’s capabilities. The primary focus will be on programming improvements to the existing algorithm. This enhancement is vital for faster execution, which is directly tied to improved accuracy.
