Research abstract

The goal of this SBIR is to design, develop, and pilot a Development, Security, and Operations (DSO) pipeline for the Multifunctional Information Distribution System [MIDS] Program Office (MPO). By creating a sandbox in which third-party vendors can innovate, modify, improve, and expand upon the MPO Software Baseline, resilient waveform capability can be delivered at the speed of relevance. Specifically, we are leveraging our extensive experience with the MPO Software Baseline to develop the first everContinuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipeline for the Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT) waveform. In Phase I, we designed, developed, and demonstrated a CI/CD pipeline that automates coding standards compliance checking; building; unit testing; system testing; and coding quality and security compliance checking for TTNT. In Phase II, we will fully develop and demonstrate an infrastructure-independent CI/CD pipeline for the TTNT General Purpose Processor (GPP) software. Our pipeline will use unit testing and scenario-driven system testing to provide full coverage of all relevant waveform requirements. The Phase II effort will culminate with demonstrations of Caliola’s CI/CD pipeline running (i) on the existing TTNT software development environment and Collins Aerospace and (ii) on the Naval-LIFT ecosystem. The results of this SBIR will thus be ready to immediately transition to the MPO in Phase III.
