Metrology for Ogive Infrared Dome

Phase II of our non-contact metrology system for measuring ogive and hemispherical shaped ogive missile domes, will adapt our current Phase I breadboard design and transform it into a finished product. The general workflow of Phase II will follow that of Phase I with the final goal being the development of a robust, accurate and multi-functional measurement system. We currently have a preliminary design concept though additional analysis and refinement is required. There are two main components to our work. First we will have to calculate the design layout and mechanical requirements of the system so we can choose components and build the system. Secondly we will develop the software into a package that is user friendly, powerful and stable. Once the system is completed, we will need to calibrate and test the system to work out any issues and ensure that the design is robust.
