Research abstract

The result of this project will be a new sensor product to support development of advanced propulsion designs. The effort will leverage dual-purpose technology produced by OKSI and their spin-off company Guiding Photonics, as well as build directly on innovative, high-speed laser diagnostics developed by researchers at UCLA. Specifically, we will produce a rugged diagnostic for direct quantification of pressure and temperature in Rotating Detonation Engines (RDEs). This diagnostic will provide critical data for development and testing of more efficient, compact, and stable combustor designs. Compared to other laser systems, it will be much simpler to install and operate, enabling high quality information in a turn-key package.
