Research abstract

Mosaic ATM, Inc. (Mosaic) is proud to present the Data Aggregation and Relay Tool (DART), a comprehensive system architecture for tightly integrating low-latency drone sensor data into the AEGIS Combat System (ACS). Development of DART will emphasize a robust and modular approach that integrates data streams from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) / unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) sensors with advanced prioritization, translation, and track fusion mechanisms.ÝÝThe proposed architecture will use a distributed event streaming platform such as Kafka along with low-latency methodologies to create an end-to-end process that will leverage over four years of work on Mosaicís Real-Time Simulation Agent (RTS). Developed in a current Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Integrated Warfare Systems (IWS) Phase II SBIR, RTS is an artificial intelligence (AI) capability designed to improve target identification (ID) and tracking within the AEGIS Combat System (ACS). RTS is already set up to provide track prediction, anomaly detection, and ID verification.ÝÝDART will stream data from a UAS ground station into RTS using an application programming interface (API) into a prioritization process which will then direct each message to the appropriate priority-specific Kafka instance. From there, a translator will convert the messages from their origin format into a format reading the messages in decreasing order of priority. The message details will then be ingested and fused. Finally, the messages will be translated for AEGIS Combat System operators using the original UAS messages, combined synthetic track data, or both as the message contents. In Phase I, we will use Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messaging format until we acquire classified AEGIS track files in Phase II.
