Research abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools for advanced storage, search, retrieval, and formatting have advanced rapidly, yet no existing commercial solution addresses the Navyís unique requirements for authoritative data integration, cybersecurity constraints, and secure multi-level data access. To enhance operator decision-making during complex undersea warfare (USW) operations, Mosaic ATM proposes the Trusted Research and Inference Decision Engine for Naval Tasks (TRIDENT), a secure multi-agent AI platform.ÝÝTRIDENTÝleverages specialized agents including an Enrichment Agent which expands queries for comprehensive data coverage, a Retrieval Agent specifically for mining authoritative sources, an Aggregation Agent employing knowledge graphs to retain context and relational memory, a Formatting Agent for generating standardized reports compatible with Navy systems like AN/UYQ-100 USW-DSS, and a Feedback Agent that continuously refines system performance based on operator interactions. Together, these agents will realize an explainable and high-confidence data retrieval platform across multiple classification levels and appliable to a variety of tasks. Implementing TRIDENTÝrequires deep understanding of Navy systems, stringent cybersecurity requirements, and state-of-the-art AI methodologies.ÝÝIn Phase I, Mosaic ATM will develop and validate TRIDENTísÝcore architecture through a structured effort split across base and option periods. We will demonstrate system feasibility by ingesting and processing representative open-source datasets which mimic both unstructured, poorly tagged data and multi-modality mixed data sources. This process will validate initial end-to-end functionality from query to retrieval to reporting. Designed as a modular and containerized application, TRIDENTÝwill be scaled in Phase II to accept classified Navy data streams and integrated into a secure (either air-gapped or GovCloud) high side environment.Ý
