Research abstract
Arize AI is a proven breakthrough platform that is purpose-built to support the AFRL's next-generation Large Language Model development and Evaluation initiatives, including projects such as NIPRGPT. Powered by state-of-the-art AI, comprehensive development tooling, production automation and intelligent workflows, our solution delivers a complete evaluation framework for RAG and agentic LLM systems. It features a prompt garden, integrated test and evaluation tools, and workflow enhancements designed to mitigate hallucinations and inaccuracies—ensuring reliable, high-performance outputs in mission-critical applications. As demonstrated in an Army use case, Arize’s R&D effort reduced operational test report curation from 60 hours to just 10 minutes, showcasing the transformative potential of rigorous LLM evaluation. Initially, our solution will support the core LLM team at AFRL, with plans to extend our support to additional defense and commercial customers over time. Through the Arize AI R/R&D effort, the DAF will have a software solution that through design R&D, is purpose-built for DAF’s unique needs. R&D efforts include custom deployment, domain fine tuning, researched and customized evaluation frameworks and USAF specific prompt engineering tools, to name a few.
