Research abstract
Vectrona will develop an AI/ML-powered Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) Adaptive Trainer (IAT) to revolutionize training effectiveness and operational readiness in contested environments. The increasing complexity of air and missile threats demands next-generation adaptive training solutions that dynamically adjust to evolving scenarios and individual trainee performance. Traditional, static training methods limit decision-making agility and do not effectively prepare operators for real-world, high-stakes engagements. Our proposed solution builds on proven AI/ML adaptive training frameworks to deliver a scalable, modular system tailored to Navy IAMD requirements. By leveraging AI-driven scenario generation, real-time performance assessment, and predictive analytics, the IAT will continuously evaluate trainee strengths and weaknesses, adapting learning experiences in real time. This ensures personnel are prepared to respond to asymmetric threats, emerging adversary tactics, and evolving operational complexities with increased speed and precision.During Phase I, Vectrona will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the most effective methodologies and technologies for adaptive IAMD training. This research will explore a range of potential solutions, including AI-driven adversary behaviors, intelligent tutoring systems, automated debriefing tools, human biometrics, and immersive environments, to determine the optimal approach. The study will focus on how best to deliver personalized, data-driven training pathways while minimizing instructor workload and improving decision-making under stress.Vectrona will engage key stakeholders, define technical requirements, and benchmark performance improvements, ensuring the proposed system aligns with Navy operational needs and cybersecurity requirements. The goal is to identify a low-risk, high-impact solution that enhances training effectiveness by at least 10% while improving scalability and resource efficiency.By transforming IAMD training into an AI-driven adaptive learning environment, this solution will enhance readiness, improve resource efficiency, and reduce training costs while equipping Navy personnel with critical decision-making skills for high-threat engagements. Beyond military applications, this technology has broad commercialization potential in air traffic control, emergency response training, and other complex, high-stakes operational domains.
