Waterproof Advanced Variable Electromagnetic Logger (WAVE-Logger)

In this project, Toyon will develop the Waterproof Advanced Variable Electromagnetic Logger (WAVE-Logger), an Underwater Electromagnetic (UEM) sensor package for extended, underwater data-logging of electric and magnetic field strength, each in three orthogonal axes.Ý The sensor will produce research-quality measurements for characterizing small EM fields while being cost-effective and robust.Ý The system design will allow for simple deployment and recovery using simple acoustic triggering from the recovery vessel.Ý The housing will be robust for repeated use, and the anchoring system will secure the system to the ocean floor. ÝData logging and system monitoring will be implemented a low-power microcontroller using rugged storage media to ensure data integrity. This project will leverage Toyonís expertise in embedded systems and small-signal measurements, paired with our consultantís extensive experience in engineering for undersea systems.
