Research abstract

This work will leverage the concepts of fault-detection from system modeling to identify mission vulnerabilities and robustly evaluate how the inclusion of a space-layer changes kill-web performance within a mission simulation. For virtual kill-web modeling, the team will use the government owned mission-level simulation tool: The Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). For analysis, the team will leverage the in-house AFSIM controller AFSIM Statistical Package (ASP) as the baseline analytic platform. Additionally, the team is readied for high-fidelity model inclusion through SysML with CAMEO MagicDraw. Leveraging this software, the team will develop a complete toolset to encompass the analysis process that will diagnose specific moments within a scenario where vulnerabilities in the kill-web occur. In the scope of a mission, a vulnerability is a negative event such as: loss of an asset, a failed sensor detection, an un-received message, or any other event which diverted the progression of the scenario towards failure. This post-processing analysis is enabled by the development of a novel technique for extracting, organizing, and clustering mission-level data. The process as a whole will provide unprecedented fidelity on the specific moments within a scenario where system design decisions had an impact.
