Research abstract

RMD proposes a maritime underwater crawler based on RMD's proven legged architecture. ÝThe crawler will be constructed of materials not normally used in subsea applications, which will simultaneously minimize the magnetic signature and the weight of the system (less than 150 lbs in air). Additionally, RMD will leverage its propriety analysis tools and design techniques to optimize the leg geometry, vehicle structure, autonomy behaviors and power system for rugged undersea environments. ÝThe light weight and small form factor of the vehicle will allow it to be deployed and recovered in an expeditionary manner by small craft operating at sea.Ý
