Research abstract

RMD proposes to develop the Invasive Vegetation Eradicator (IVE) robot. IVE will utilize an Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) electromagnetic payload operating in the 100-280nm range to disrupt and destroy troublesome vegetation, roots, and seeds. The IVE and EUV system will eliminate the need for chemical herbicides to manage invasive weeds around Airforce runways and other base facilities. The effects of EUV electromagnetic radiation will be studied, quantified and qualified to maximize the effects on target species during the Phase II project.
