Research abstract

RMD proposes to build a modular autonomy kit that can be retrofitted to existing IRB bays without modification,  based off of RMD's autonomous boat products. The Robotic Bridge Autonomy Kit (R-BAK) will leverage a proven unmanned maritime architecture and add advanced networking and autonomy features to enable multiple unmanned systems to coordinate with one another. These kits will allow the Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) sections to autonomously navigate and operate on the water, as well as allow the individual IRB sections to self-assemble on the water and operate as a single cohesive system.  The R-BAK system will allow any standard IRB section to become a networked, self contained autonomous system capable of advanced autonomy behaviors with minimal human oversight.
