Research abstract

RMD Proposes a Robotic Autonomous Airfield Repair Swarm (RAARS) that can autonomously repair a damaged airfield without human intervention. The swarm is deployed in standard shipping containers and controlled through a central command node that is deployed with the swarm. The vehicles utilize a standard mechanical and electrical payload interface which allows the vehicle platform to be configured based on the current task. The command node provides scheduling, tasking, and timing information for the swarm. The vehicles can self configure with different payloads based on their current tasking. Telemetry and health monitoring of the swarm is available at the command node and to an operator over a remote data link. The system is capable of generating its own power on site, which minimizes the system's logistical footprint.
