Research abstract

ENGAGE's Fuel Optimization Platform aims to advance TRANSCOM’s and the DAF's ability to track and optimize fuel logistics and enable data-informed decision-making for fuel operations in non-capitalized locations both overseas and in Contingency Response or Agile Combat Employment scenarios. These advancements have the potential to revolutionize fuel operations by saving time, money and increasing mission readiness for DAF units supporting worldwide airlift support and global mobility. ENGAGE has a signed Customer Memorandum with the Customer being the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Operational Energy, Mr. Guerrero.  Within 21 months, ENGAGE Mobilize’s Agile Combat Fuel Optimization Platform will be delivered to 48th LRS, TRANSCOM, and SAF/IEN to optimize fuel logistics in non-capitalized locations including Air-to-Air refueling operations and tracking of Foreign Military Sales fuel transactions. By using predictive scheduling, workflow capture and data validation to reduce touchpoints and eliminate redundant processes, the Fuel Optimization Platform will optimize 1) air-to-air fuel transactions, 2) management of fuel and processes 3) approval of fuel delivery and 4) auditing of all fuel management transactions.  The mission impact of this project on the DAF and TRANSCOM will be to optimize refueling operations and enhance agile combat employment to ensure the DoD maintains air superiority as they shift focus and resources to near-peer competition. The main goals of ENGAGE’s involvement in this project are:Minimize inefficiencies and enable data-driven decisions by providing a comprehensive data visualization platform for TRANSCOM and deployed units to optimize refueling operations and workflowsStreamline tasks associated with air-to-air refueling operations and Foreign Military Sales fuel transactions by identifying common inefficiencies across the refueling operations life cycleMinimize inefficiencies and enable data-driven decisions by adapting the current software application to provide the 48 LRS with a uniquely designed prototype to identify potential fuel savings opportunitiesDevelop the implementation strategy for deployment of the ENGAGE Refueling Optimization Platform across the Air Force (and potentially Space Force)ENGAGE estimates the platform can potentially produce a five percent reduction in some data sources requirements with direct cost savings of more than $1 Billion.   ENGAGE will continue to work with RAF Lakenheath to observe fuel tracking, logistics and refueling operations to customize the platform to improve mission readiness.
