Research abstract

The Defender Multi-domain Situational Awareness Tool (DMSAT) will adapt Picogrid’s commercially available technology to deliver a mobile Common Operating Picture (COP) interface and toolkit for all Defenders to conduct multi-domain operations leveraging varied hardware platforms. This effort will leverage the same ATAK platform currently used by AFLCMC/HBU, extending the platform with a plugin to address the needs of mobile situational awareness, ensuring rapid fielding and adoption. DMSAT will bridge the gap between existing base security systems and modern unmanned and autonomous technologies, enabling seamless real-time situational awareness for Security Forces.DMSAT will provide real-time sensor data aggregation by consolidating information from multiple legacy and modern security sensors, as well as detection and threat visualization through a unified interface that allows security forces to monitor and manage unmanned assets. Picogrid’s “middleware-first,” vendor-agnostic approach ensures compatibility with existing Air Force security infrastructure, eliminating reliance on proprietary hardware, and enabling seamless integration of new sensors, radar systems, and UAS platforms as mission needs evolve.
