Research abstract

Kyte Dynamics’ dual-stage UAS provides a low-signature, GPS-independent aerial resupply and ISR solution for contested environments. The system features a long-endurance, winged VTOL (Mother Drone) that during hover mode lowers via a sling a secondary, omni-directional thruster-stabilized vehicle (the Rover) for precision payload deployment and pick-up, with centimeter-level precision even in high gust conditions. By integrating multi-sensor GNSS-denied navigation, AI-driven flight control, and a low acoustic signature (<60 dBA), this system enables high-accuracy logistics and intelligence gathering in denied airspace. The Phase II effort will focus on enhancing autonomy, improving C2 and ISR integration, and validating mission performance through contested logistics and electronic warfare resilience testing. This research supports operational agility for Department of Defense (DoD) missions, particularly in tactical resupply, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and Agile Combat Employment (ACE) logistics frameworks.
